Isadoora Announces Cast for "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"

Isadoora Theatre Company is proud to announce the cast for their fall show, Jeffrey Hatcher’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.  Directed by Henry Timm, this version of the classic novella Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson will take the stage at the Third Avenue Playhouse in October and November.

Heralded as, “not your grandfather’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” by the Arizona Daily Star, the story is set in Victorian-era London, as Henry Jekyll’s experiments have brought forth his other self – Edward Hyde, a sensualist and villain, free to commit the sins Jekyll is too civilized to comprehend.  When Hyde meets a woman who stirs his interest, Jekyll fears for her life and decides to end his experiments. But Hyde has other ideas, and so the two sides battle each other in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse to determine who will be the master and who his slave.  In Hatcher’s version, Hyde is not all evil – he loves, and is loved; and Jekyll isn’t the pure soul we’ve come to believe him to be.  Hatcher has written a play that honors the original, but gives a more complex interpretation of the dual nature of man.  The dark intensity of the drama is unrelenting, even through the well-timed laugh lines.

The cast includes Stuart Champeau as Jekyll; David Magle, David Clowers, Marcel Bruyere, and Clara Wendeland as Hyde; Chris Milton as Gabriel Utterson; Sarah Fredrickson as Richard Enfield; Ginger Auld as Poole; and Meghan Holly as Elizabeth Jelkes.  Auld, Bruyere, Clowers, Fredrickson, Magle, and Wendeland also appear in other roles in the piece, which is written with intentional doubling.

Isadoora’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde will play at the Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay from October 28-31 and November 4-7.  Thursday through Saturday performances are at 7:30 PM with Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM.  Tickets are $14 for adults and $10 for students, and can be obtained by contacting TAP directly at 920.743.1760 or by visiting their box office at 239 N Third Ave during business hours, which are 10 AM – 3 PM, Monday through Friday.
