Women between the ages of 19 and 60 and men between the ages of 19 and 30 are encouraged to audition. Parts for 6 women and 1 man. No prepared auditions are required. Auditions will consist of reading from the script. Individuals with head shots and theatrical resumes are encouraged to bring this material. Email director Ann Birnschein at annkbarnard@hotmail.com with questions.

Volunteers are also needed for work behind the scenes.

In 1943, three brothers are off to war and Life Magazine picks up the down-home story about their young wives. Filled with charm and fun, this deeply affecting, timeless story follows the lives of six women thrown together by war and their struggle for self-worth.

The time is September, 1943. The action of the play takes place in various locations over several weeks in Sterlington, Louisiana, a very small town.
PLEASE NOTE:
The Director does not require actresses nor actor to be the exact age specified by the script descriptions below.

Character Breakdown
Kate Miller Early/Mid-forties. Correspondent/Photographer for Life magazine. Successful woman in a man's world.
Tood 19 years old. Pretty, genuine, a bit of a dreamer, but determined.
Weetsie 20 years old. Plain and a little plump. Very religious and very much the country girl.
Aunt Ola Mid-forties, but appears older. The mother-in-law of the three young women. Strong, matriarchal.
Sybil 25 years old. Flashy. "Sophisticated" or "fast" in her crowd.
Addie Mae Mid-forties. Local newspaper reporter. Affected stylishness.
Tommy 20 years old. The youngest brother of the family. Eager, friendly, insecure. He is a sailor, serving in the South Pacific.
